HealthInfoNet (Maine HIE)

Overview

HealthInfoNet is an independent, nonprofit information services organization that manages the state of Maine's statewide Health Information Exchange (HIE). The statewide HIE is designed to link an individual’s health information from unaffiliated healthcare sites to create a single electronic health record, allowing authorized providers across the state to better support and coordinate patient care. HealthInfoNet is dedicated to helping Maine's healthcare communities create lasting system-wide improvements in the value of patient care and population health by building better, easier, and safer solutions to help drive innovation and transformation activities.

Features and Benefits

Data Integration Services

At the core of HealthInfoNet's data integration service is its enterprise data aggregation engine. A highly performant service that accepts, routes, maps, translates, and cleanses incoming data sets according to custom configurations in order to assure high-quality data outputs. This service includes the capability of integrating PointClickCare's JSON API-based message interfaces within the Health Information Exchange's broader data warehouse. Data Enhancement Services

Once incoming data sources have entered the Health Information Exchange's data warehouse, HealthInfoNet continues to enrich the raw inputs by processing them through a series of value-add services that strengthen their accuracy and reliability for wide-ranging downstream use cases. These value-add services include terminology management, person identity management, data linkage, and patient/organization attribution. Data Dissemination Services

As data inputs are transformed into optimized outputs, they are packaged and delivered to HealthInfoNet's participants in consumable and actionable methods designed to help keep them informed of their patients’ healthcare activities and population trends and patterns. These methods include access to HealthInfoNet's comprehensive electronic health record systems, its electronic intelligent notification services, and its analytic and reporting platforms. Data Transmission Services

HealthInfoNet's data transmission methods provide critical views into key patterns and trends across healthcare settings throughout the state so that the Health Information Exchange's customers can study the health and performance of targeted patient populations and interventions to inform important decision-making. Examples of HealthInfoNet's data transmission services include public health reporting to the Maine CDC (i.e., syndromic surveillance, electronic laboratory reporting, and immunization reporting), data extraction capabilities (e.g., real-time ADT transactions, enriched data sets), and research and innovation case studies and use cases.
